SPRINGTIME HINTS

When Springtime approaches, many of us are thinking about spending more time at our cabins. We may also think of ways to improve the looks of our property. One such method is by planting various plants, bushes, or trees (shrubbery, for you Monty Python fans).

The CC&R's have a very clear explanation on planting around our cabins, while still keeping that natural forest look
“Section II c Lot Maintenance
7.Planting
There shall be no non-native plants, bushes, or trees outside of five feet around the principal residence.”

While such things as lilacs and wisteria are lovely, they are NOT native to this area. We can have ANY non-native plant, but they must be within 5 feet of our residence. There are also some mountain roses that can be planted as well.

Glen Banks has graciously provided us with the exhaustive (and exhausting) checklist of plants native to the Jemez mountains. Within it are pages of lists of allowed plants, and where to locate them. Look and see.

This springtime. Before you plant, please use this booklet to decide what you will plant. Please move any non-native plants to within 5 feet of your cabin.

Other homeowners here thank you for being cooperative in preserving and maintaining this wonderful corner of heaven.
